THE PATH TO SMARTER NETWORKING!
Connect Your Personal Network to Interactive Social Networks!
Presenter: Paul Collins, Jordan-Webb

Between December 2009 and February 2010, Linkedin grew from 55 million users to 60 million users. In a similar time-frame Facebook grew from 350 million users to 400 million users. These statistics alone don’t tell much about the usage, success or effectiveness of social networking sites, but they do indicate that lots of people are joining up.  For you as a consultant, it’s how you integrate your own personal network into social networking that makes the difference.

If you've been exposed to networking before, please be prepared to think differently and come with an open mind and a willingness to be challenged.  You'll discover distinctive behaviors that could make a significant difference in your approach to and payback from both face-to-face networking and online networking.  Your new perceptions will transform your notions of collaboration, sharing and win-win and will enhance your capability and success in building, maintaining and sharing connections with others.

This encounter with networking will be quite different from what you may have previously experienced as it will help you visualize and peel away the six layers of your own personal network.   It will provide you with awareness of resources within your personal network and will help you understand how to use those resources within interactive social networks.

Paul Collins became an independent consultant in1981 and since 1989 has provided high performance facilitation and consulting services to clients, using new techniques and technologies that support collaborative problem solving and decision making.  Since 2003, these collaborative technologies and techniques have migrated from fixed meeting rooms to the world-wide-web, and today, Paul helps clients move into the 21st century by hosting and facilitating virtual meetings.  Paul's avocations include ethnic folk dance, traditional square and contra dance, folk festival production, web design, hiking & biking, foreign languages and public speaking.  Paul is an instructor in the Chicago SummerDance Program (teaching on 7/27, 8/5 and 8/18). In his “spare” time, he’s an instructor at De Paul University’s Continuing Education Program and a student in Northwestern University’s Leadership and Organization Behavior Program. He is also a certified Forté Communications System Facilitator/Coach and a Board Member and Program Committee Chair of MSPC.

Paul's client experience ranges from corporate to government to not for profit, including: National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA), GATX Corporation, McDonald's Corporation, Motorola, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, BP Amoco, U S Cellular Corporation, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Commonwealth Edison, Loyola University, Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Wilderness, Oregon Liquor Control Commission, Pace Suburban Bus Service, U.S. Bankruptcy Court and Girl Scout Promise Group.
