I’ve Started My Independent
Consulting Practice – Now What? What a new independent consultant wants to do is practice his or her craft, which is based on some kind of technical skill. Regardless of the technical skill, the long-term success of a consulting practice lies in the building of a firm foundation. This presentation and discussion will focus on the elements of the firm foundation and the actions necessary for the new practice to be successful. Tom Long is President of Solid Oak Consulting, which is committed to helping the small business owner grow his or her business. This is regardless of the stage in the lifecycle for that business: whether a business is in the early growth or even startup stage; the mature business needing to grow more or reestablish a growth pattern; or even a late stage company which needs to grow in order to be ready for the owner to exit and get the best price for the business. Tom is a former Partner with Ernst & Whinney and Ernst & Young, and is an expert on management issues and strategies for Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Drawing on years of experience in start-ups and turnarounds at large companies including Procter & Gamble, R.R. Donnelly & Sons, Oracle Corporation, Computer Associates and many small, start-up businesses, Tom has led efforts in all all aspects of business growth.
