Topic: "How To Use Free Publicity to Promote Yourself as an Expert",
presented by Joan Stewart
Title: HOW TO USE FREE PUBLICITY TO PROMOTE YOURSELF AS AN EXPERT.

If all you’re doing is sending news releases – or, heaven forbid, buying expensive ads – you’re missing dozens of chances to generate thousands of dollars in free publicity from local and national newspapers and magazines, TV and radio stations, trade magazines and the Internet. Joan Stewart, a former newspaper editor, will show you the secrets of how to be media-savvy and position yourself as the go-to expert for journalists, whether you’re targeting the Chicago Tribune, USA Today or your local weekly. She’ll explain how to create a targeted list of media contacts, then develop strong relationships with them by making their job easy. (During the second half of the evening, Joan will lead us through an interactive exercise that will result in at least one action step we can take the next day to start getting media attention.) Joan publishes the popular magazine “The Publicity Hound’s Tips of the Week” which has more than 9,300 subscribers worldwide.
